Turners Falls, Massachusetts
Theresa Mae (Pratt) Day, 79, a resident of 5E Park Villa Apartments, died Sunday evening, August 5, 2018 at the home of her son David, at 72 Plantation Circle, Greenfield, MA, following a period of declining health.

A native of Greenfield, MA, she was born on September 16, 1938 to Ella M. (Archer) and Clesson Pratt. She was educated in Greenfield Public Schools, a graduate of Greenfield High School in the Class of 1956. She went on to further her education by attending the former Westfield State Sanatorium School of Nursing, obtaining her Licensed Practical Nursing certificate.

Theresa worked for many years at the former Farren Memorial Hospital and its successor, the Farren Care Center as an LPN. Theresa enjoyed many activities that included: crocheting, bingo, playing computer games, reading and vegetable gardening. She was an ardent supporter of several community based programs, including the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department Triad, and the S.A.L.T. initiative (Seniors and Law Enforcement Together) as well as veteran’s affairs throughout Franklin County and could often be found crocheting lap blankets for their use. An animal lover, she kept several pet cats and dogs over the years, none more important than her beloved dog, Winston. She was a former member of the Woman of the Loyal Order of the Moose in Greenfield, MA.

She married Herbert Arthur Day on December 21, 1957 and they celebrated nearly 61 years of marriage together until his passing on October 30, 2004. She is remembered by her devoted and loving children: Susan M. Briggs and her husband Randy, of Hinsdale, NH; Linda J. McCarthy and her husband John, of Turners Falls, MA; Lori A. Phelps of Keene, NH and David Day of Greenfield, MA. Additionally, she leaves her adoring grandchildren: Scott Minckler, Joshua Minckler and his wife Shameeka, Kyle Briggs and Lindsay Briggs, as well as her great grandchildren: Alexa, Blake, Paisley, Avery, Madelyn, Olivia, Lily, True and Declan. She leaves her siblings: James Therrien (Linda) of Greenfield, MA; William Therrien of MA and Kenneth Therrien (Darlene) of SC, as well as her sister-in-law Rene’ Jenkins, of Gill, MA. Theresa was predeceased by her parents, her husband Herbert in 2004 and her sister Patty A. Clark in 2013.

In keeping with Theresa’s wishes for simplicity, her family will receive guests on SATURDAY, AUGUST 11, 2018 from the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, MA, for a time of visitation from 2:00PM until 3:00PM, with a dismissal to follow for graveside services to take place in the Green River Cemetery, Greenfield, MA at 3:30PM.
