Susan M. Harris

Susan Marie (Lawor) Harris, 72, of 371 Main Street, 1st Fl., Shelbune Falls, MA, passed peacefully on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA. A native of Montague, Susan was born on December 6,1950 to her now late parents: Sophie (Podlo) and Michael Lawor and resided during her formative years in Deerfield, MA, attending Deerfield Public Schools and she was a graduate of Frontier Regional High School in the Class of 1969.

In her youth, she was a Candy Striper at the former Franklin County Public Hospital, later known as Frankin Medical Center and now Baystate Franklin Medical Center. Later, she accepted a position with The Recorder, working in the circulation department for several years prior to accepting a position with Community Action, in Greenfield, MA as a fuel assistant advocate, retiring following 30 years of service in 2021.

Susan enjoyed “Rock & Roll” music, was a devoted fan of the band “Eagles”, riding on her husband David’s motorcycles, camping, fishing, trips to NYC, crossword puzzles, gardening (flower and vegetables). Susan was a “Country Girl” at heart, simple pleasures such as events with her immediate and extended family were moments she cherished. She loved unconditionally, whether family or friend and she was indeed a friend to many. Susan was joyful when she lent a helping hand to someone in need of support or affection.

She is lovingly remembered by her husband, David Rowe Harris, Jr., as well as her devoted daughters: Kimberly (Lawor) Celli and her husband Joseph, Kelley (Lawor) Boutwell and her husband Jason. In addition, Susan is cherished by her granddaughters: Desiree Boutwell, Angela Celli, Laney Celli and Courtney Celli and grandson Dylan Boutwell, as well as her two great grandchildren: Noah Boutwell and Lorelai Hutchinson. Susan also leaves her loving feline companion “Mona” who brought her much joy. Susan was predeceased by her father Michael (1986) and by her mother Sophie (2016), who have now been re-united.

A celebration of Susan’s life will be observed at a later date, place and time to be announced. The McCarthy Funeral Homes of Greenfield and Turners Falls, MA, have been entrusted with Susan’s care and arrangements.
