Upon his graduation, Stanley worked in Springfield, MA, later for Advanced Mfg., in Westfield, MA and lastly for the former Greenfield Tap & Die Corporation and its successor, Kennametal in Greenfield, MA retiring in 2005 as a machinist / maintenance supervisor.

Stanley enjoyed tinkering around his home, clearing brush, tending to his gardens and the grounds in a meticulous manner. One of the tools of this work was his tractor, which he maintained with pride and his Ford F-250 pickup truck known as the “beast”. He was often found accompanied in the truck, by his devoted golden retriever, Brandy, sitting faithfully at his side. A sportsman, he could be found hunting and fishing in his leisure time. He had the privilege of teaching his sons, daughter and grandsons these pursuits.

He had a deep appreciation for nature, trees, animals, birds and butterflies. He loved to visit the ocean, in particular at York Beach, Maine where he frequented Nubble Light. He was fond of dogs and is remembered by his current canine companion Snoopy. A railroad enthusiast, he enjoyed traveling aboard the Green Mountain Railroad from Brattleboro to Chester, VT with his wife and children. He enjoyed visiting the Jillette Castle in East Haddam, CT with his family. Stanley was a square dance enthusiast, who met the love of his life, the former Phyllis Virginia Meier at such a dance and swept her off her feet. They married on April 4, 1964 in Greenfield, MA and celebrated 54 years of marriage early this year. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Greenfield, MA.

He leaves his beloved wife, Phyllis V. Tower; his loving daughter Michelle and her husband Rick and their sons, Ryan and Zachary; his brother Roger Tower and his wife Joyce and his sister Barbara Rewa and her husband William, as well as several nieces and cousins and neighbors and friends.

He was predeceased by his son David, his son Brian and his wife Florry, as well as by his parents Marion and Sidney.
