Sarah M. (Dorothy) Malloy

Sarah Dorothy (Allen) Malloy, 80, a resident of the Buckley Health Care Center, passed away on Saturday afternoon, February 6, 2016 following a period of declining health.
A native of Greenfield and a lifelong resident of Franklin County, she was born on April 5, 1935 to Harold B. and Rose (Stanley) Allen and was educated in Greenfield Public Schools.  Sarah graduated from GHS in the Class of 1953 and furthered her education by attending Bay Path College. 
As well as Greenfield, Sarah resided for many years in Turners Falls, MA. Despite her health challenge she lived a fiercely independent life in her community for many decades. A generous soul, she was also an avid animal lover, especially toward cats.
Sarah is lovingly remembered by her daughter Beth and her beloved granddaughter Hannah Wood Solar, of South Deerfield, MA.  Additionally, she leaves her sister, Mildred Morell and her husband Roger, of Sunapee, NH, as well as her Aunt, Gertrude Woodard of Turners Falls, MA and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews and many friends who will miss her deeply. She is predeceased by her sister Barbara Hawkins. We would like to make a special acknowledgement to the management and staff of the Buckley Health Care Center, for their unwavering support and loving care provided to Sarah over the past years.  
A memorial service in celebration of Sarah’s life and many gifts will be observed on Saturday, February 20, 2016 at the United Church of Bernardston at 1:00PM, with Rev. David Neil, Pastor officiating.  A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church with light refreshments to be provided.  Inurnment will be private and at the convenience of the family in the Center Cemetery, Bernardston, MA in the spring of the year.
