Sandra A. (Smith) Petrin

Sandra A. “Sandy” (Smith) Petrin, 65, of Greenfield, passed away on Monday, December 29, 2014, at Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA, following a period of declining health  She was born on February 15, 1949, in Greenfield, MA, daughter of the late Carl and Elizabeth (Loving) Smith. Sandy attended Holy Trinity School, Greenfield Public Schools and was a graduate of Greenfield High School in the Class of 1968. 
She worked for the Greenfield School District for several years as a paraprofessional until her retirement in 2010.  She was married on May 19, 1973 in Blessed Sacrament Church, Greenfield, MA, to John D. Petrin 
In her leisure time, Sandy enjoyed camping vacations at Cape Hatteras and Virginia Beach, VA.  She loved worshiping the sun by day and could be found each evening, sitting around the camp fire with her family. Sandy loved to cook and bake and was known for her famous triple layer chocolate cake.  She loved spending time with her family, in particular with her grandchildren. 
She is lovingly remembered by her husband of 41 years, John D. Petrin of Greenfield, as well as her children: Sons-Jamie R. Petrin, and his wife Molly of Johnstown, New York, and Jeffery T. Petrin of Greenfield; Daughter- Amanda E. Pettit and her husband Brian, of New York; three granddaughters-Kloe, Kayley and Kenzy. She also leaves her sister, Adele Clark of Greenfield and additionally several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Funeral services will be observed on Saturday, January 3, 2015, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM from Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA.  Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Campoli, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Guests attending the services are asked to convene directly at the church.  Rites of committal and burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Greenfield, MA. The Petrin family will receive guests on Friday, January 2, 2015 at the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, MA from 2-4PM and from 6-8PM.
