Greenfield, MARobert L. Fournier, 83, of 363 Conway Street, passed peacefully at home on Sunday morning, August 6, 2017, in the presence of loving family members following a period of declining health.He was born on February 14, 1934 in Heath, MA, one of 10 children born to Florence M. (Stetson) Fournier and Rudolph A. Fournier and attended local public schools and the former Arms Academy in Shelburne Falls, MA.He was employed for over 50 years, as a professional truck driver having worked for Erving Motors and later, N & B Express. In his retirement, he accepted a position with Dillon Chevrolet in Greenfield as service concierge, a position he held for 15 years and was a beloved and dedicated member of the Dillon team. Bob married the former Irene A. Miller, on October 17, 1954 at the First Congregational Church of Greenfield and they would have celebrated their 63rd anniversary this fall. Bob was most proud of tending to his home, in particular the meticulous care of his lawn. He was an accomplished woodworker, who enjoyed candlepin bowling, golfing, square dancing, motorcycles, playing acoustic guitar, Country Western yodeling, Johnny Cash and ‘truck driver” music. He also appreciated following the stock market, trips to the casinos and was a CB radio enthusiast with the handle “Rabbitt14”. He enjoyed and missed his regular breakfast get-togethers with his late brother Rudolph A. Fournier, Jr., known as “Junior” followed by driving excursions in search of many a dead end road.He leaves his loving wife of nearly 63 years, Irene A. Fournier. Their children: Linda M. Fournier of Greenfield, MA; Richard A. Fournier and his wife Terry, of Alvaton, KY and his grandson Cory A. Fournier of Flagstaff, AZ. Additionally, he leaves his devoted sister Doris E. Rand of Old Lyme, CT and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews, who remember him with great affection. He was predeceased by his parents and 8 of his siblings. In keeping with Robert’s wishes for simplicity, he was cremated and private-intimate inurnment services took place in the South Cemetery, Leyden, MA at the convenience of his family. Jack Cooper, Celebrant officiated.
