Turners Falls, MasschusettsPaul Leo Adams, 64, a resident of 1 Nadeau Avenue, passed peacefully at home on Monday, February 20, 2017, following a period of declining health. A native son of the Town of Montague, he was born on February 28, 1952 to Alma R. (Lavigne) and Herbert S. Adams, Sr., and attended Montague Public Schools.Paul enlisted in the US Army on February 28, 1969 on the occasion of his 17th birthday, and served honorably during the Vietnam Conflict. He attained the rank of Specialist 4th Class and was a member of the 36th Engineer’s Company until his discharge on February 20, 1971.Upon his return to civilian life, Paul accepted a position with the Esleeck Paper Company as a chemical engineer, but had to retire early due to ill health. He married his “sweetheart” the former Corleen A. Deome, in July of 1971 in Northfield, MA. Paul was an avid sports enthusiast, who enjoyed golf. In his later years, unable to play due to his physical limitations, he could be found ensconced at the drive up of the first green at Thomas Memorial and Golf and Country Club surveying the success or failures of those on the course. He enjoyed playing cards, in particular pitch and cribbage, along with jigsaw and crossword puzzles and adult coloring. Paul loved the outdoors, fishing and wildlife and spent many hours watching the ducks and geese along the Connecticut River. He also enjoyed coin collecting, classic country music and traveling. He will be remembered for his kind and generous nature, as well as being a devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.He is lovingly remembered by his wife from whom he was separated, but remained dear friends, as well as by his children: Michelle L. Giangreco and her husband Jay and their son Greyson, of South Glastonbury, CT and Eric S. Adams and his significant other Heather Waldron and their daughter Taylor, of Greenfield, MA. Additionally, he leaves his siblings: Theresa Wright of VT; Bertha Choiniere and her husband Mike, of Greenfield, MA, Rita Deyo of Buckland, MA and Roger Adams, Sr., of South Hadley, MA. He was predeceased by his brothers Hebert Adams, Jr. and Leonard Adams. Additionally, he leaves several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews who remember him with affection.In keeping with Paul’s request for simplicity, he will be cremated and his remains will be scattered privately by his family at several locations that were near and dear to him. Visiting hours will be omitted. A life celebration gathering will take place at the privacy of his family, with military honors to be observed with members of the 54th Massachusetts Army National Guard in attendance.
