Obituary

Patricia Bristol Hisz, 79, passed away peacefully at home on February 6th, 2023 surrounded by love and family. Patricia grew up in Syracuse, NY, attending the Convent High School before graduating from SUNY-Oswego with a degree in English. In 1964, she served in the Woman's Army Corps (WAC’s) at Fort McClellan, AL. Patricia then continued her studies at Wesleyan University receiving a Master’s degree in Literature. It was in Middletown, CT that her 30 year career in education began.

In 1971, Patricia moved to Gill with her husband, Michael, where Patricia continued teaching at the Greenfield Middle School and later the Greenfield High School. A woman of deep faith, Patricia was a member of the Our Lady of Peace Parish and a member of the Our Lady of Peace Woman's Group.

Patricia was a lifelong golfer, a creative spirit, playing the harp and painting, a voracious reader and a tenacious gardener. She was happiest while visiting with friends and family or driving the beautiful country roads on the way to flea markets or tag sales looking for treasure and adventure or setting up tables to share her own collections. As a mother, wife, educator and friend, Patricia exuded unconditional love, kindness and acceptance. She will forever be dearly missed.

Born July 22, 1943, in Queens, NY; Patricia was the daughter of John and Janet Bristol (McCarthy) of New York. Patricia is survived by her husband, Michael, of Gill, MA; two sons, David B. Hisz of Concord, NH and Brian T. Hisz of Gill, MA; a sister, Bonnie (Marilyn) Clesse (Rene) of Eden, NY; two nieces, Janet Clesse Hager (George) of Portland, OR and Michelle Clesse (Jason) of Pittsburg, PA; two nephews, John Clesse of Norman, OK, and Joseph Clesse (Danielle) of Depew, NY.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be celebrated in Pat’s memory, on Saturday, February 18, 2023 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA at 10:00AM, with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor, as the celebrant. A reception will be announced at the conclusion of the services. Visiting hours are omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are preferred to the Slate Memorial Library, 332 Main Road, Gill, MA 01354-9758, phone: 413-863-2591, https://gillmass.org/p/31/Library
