Michael Flores Obituary

Nashville, Tennessee
Nashville, TN

Our beautiful son & brother, Michael Joseph Flores, 36, of 528 River Rouge Drive, Nashville, TN, passed unexpectedly on Monday, January 22, 2018, having been taken ill at home earlier in the day. He was born on May 29, 1981 in Santa Ana, CA, to Manny and Micki (Urban) Flores. Michael was educated in CA and CT public schools, graduating from Brookfield High School, Brookfield, CT in the Class of 1999.

At the time of his passing, Michael was employed by Red Spirits & Wine of Nashville, TN as a shift supervisor. Michael will be remembered for his passion of writing short stories, poems, and novels in which some of his works were published. Michael also had a love for all types of music. He was a sports enthusiast and like his parents and sister, was a “devout” New England Patriots fanatic and was able to watch them win the AFC Championship. Michael enjoyed the solitude of the outdoors and hiking. In his youth, he was truly artistic, enjoyed drawing and playing drums, as well as going on road trips with his dad and sister Mary, characterizing the outings as “…going for rides and getting lost”.

He is lovingly remembered and will always be treasured by his parents: Manny and Micki Flores and by his siblings: Mary Flores, Laurie (Ken) Halet, Diane (Bob) Duffy, Danny (Maria) Flores, Nick (Kaye) Flores and David (Cindy) Flores. Additionally, his passing is mourned with sadness by his Aunts and Uncles: Julie Urban and Gil Oropez who were also his god parents, by Martha Alonzo, Julie (Tony) Ballester, Mary (Stanley) Stokarski, David (Mary) Wolfram, Randi (John) Poirier, Bobbi (Jon) Marguet and Jason (Debbi) Wolfram, as well as numerous cousins. He was predeceased by his grandparents, Jack & Norene Urban and Salvador & Julieta Flores. Michael was also blessed to have in his life, two lifelong friends from his youth who remained close to him over the years; A.J. Ekeinde and Corey McChesney, along with Lisa Bergmiller, a special friend from Nashville TN

Michael’s request for simplicity will be honored, with visiting hours to be observed at McCarthy Funeral Homes, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, MA, on Sunday, January 28, 2018 from 3 to 5 p.m. Cremation will follow and he will be interred in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA, alongside his late grandfather Jack, in a private family committal service at the convenience of family. Michael’s family requests that flowers be omitted and that an expression of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in his memory be directed to: The Michael J. Flores Scholarship Fund, 155 Hathaway Street Wareham, MA 02571.
