Mary I. (Lewis) Budine

Mary Idella (Lewis) Budine, 80, died peacefully after a period of declining health on April 16, 2022, at Buckley Healthcare Center, Greenfield, MA. Mary was born in Bainbridge, New York on September 28, 1941, the daughter of Randolph and Helen Foote Lewis.

She graduated from Bainbridge High School in 1959 and then went to college at Albany State Teachers College and became a teacher upon graduation. Mary’s career as a teacher provided her the opportunity to positively impact the lives of all her students

Mary raised her three boys in New York State with their father, Gary Budine. She briefly lived in Quincy, Illinois before returning to Canandaigua NY where she worked at Thompson Health supporting the nurse’s office.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and beloved sister Anne L. (Dennis) Enright of Oneonta. She is survived by three of her treasured siblings, her brother Robert Lewis, sisters Cynthia Avice and Kate Lewis.

She leaves her much loved family; sons, Jeff (Gillian), Marc (Robyn), Scott (Julie); grandchildren, in whom she took great pride: Aaron Budine, Taylor (Derek) Klomburg, Emma (Cole Goyette) Budine, Mattie Budine, Elizabeth Budine, Colin Budine and Elaine Budine; and great-grandchildren, Bradley Remillard, Charleigh Budine and Nora Goyette; her nephews Michael (Amy Gutman) Enright, Sean (Annette) Enright and nieces Elizabeth Enright and Stacie Hall and their families.

 Mary particularly loved reading, James Bond movies, baking, and time spent with family.

Mary’s family wants to express gratitude for the kind, loving support of her caregivers and friends throughout recent years. Thank you to Michelle, Kelly, Jojo, Life Path, Catholic Charities, the staff at Buckley Health Center and the team from New England Hospice.

There will be no calling hours or services per Mary’s request.

Memorial contributions in Mary’s name may be made to either the American Cancer Society or your local Hospice organization.
