Greenfield, MassachusettsMarjorie Janet (Figgins) Curtis - May 16, 1926 to November 4, 2015Marjorie Janet Figgins was born on May 16, 1926 at the Fairlawn Hospital in Worcester, MA, the second daughter of Marion (Conway) and William Figgins of Worcester. She grew up in Millbury and Worcester with her siblings Doris and Bill and graduated First Honors at Millbury High School, class of 1945. She worked in the office as a bookkeeper at New England High Carbon Wire Company in Millbury before moving to Northfield, MA to be with her sister Doris and her husband Clifford Camp. During this time Margie worked again in bookkeeping, now for the Wirthmore Feed Company of Greenfield, MA. She had good skills with numbers and figures, and she loved details.Northfield is where she met and married Donald W. Curtis, settling in Greenfield where they raised their sons, Peter and Andrew. Margie and Donald were very active at the First Congregational Church of Greenfield during this time and continued to support the church throughout their lives. Margie prided herself in her home keeping, was a great cook, and loved to sew. Her Scottish heritage was very important to her with many fond memories of the Scottish community and culture that she grew up with in Worcester and Millbury. This set the stage for her great love of music and dancing. Margie especially loved Big Band music but also took great pleasure in folk, country, and Celtic music.Marjorie was predeceased by her husband Donald, pictured with her above, who passed away in 2014. She missed him dearly. She is survived by her sons Peter and Andrew along with nieces and nephews from both sides of the family. In her later years she took great pleasure in the company and care of her nephew Claude Curtis, his wife Marjorie and their children Christopher, Andrea, and Gillian; her niece Marsha Camp; and her sister-in-law Barbara Lewis. A private service will be held for family and friends officiated by Reverend Stacey Kullgren of the First Congregational Church of Greenfield. In the spring, she will be interred at the North Meadow Cemetery of Greenfield alongside her husband Donald.
