Marilyn Patnode Obituary

Marilyn Althea (Patten) Patnode, 84, of West Deerfield, died peacefully on Oct. 20, 2025. She was born on March 2, 1941 in Richmond ME, the daughter of Rodney C. Patten and Helen Louise (Bridges) Patten.

She was predeceased in 2023 by her husband of 67 years, Donald, as well as her sisters, Virginia Carey and Lorraine Blouin. She leaves her daughter, Helen Murphy (David) of Greenfield MA; three grandchildren, Joshua Murphy (Rebekah) of Richmond NH, Justine Murphy (William) of Newfane VT, and Jenessa Murphy (Arthur) of New Salem MA; two great-grandchildren, Tucker and Everett; a sister, June Gonzalez and her husband Enrique of Florida; a brother, Rodney Patten and his wife Linda of South Deerfield; a brother-in-law, Richard Patnode and his wife Diane of Georgia; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Marilyn was a dedicated, supportive, spunky, and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and friend. She enjoyed sewing, quilting, knitting, and crocheting, as well as spending time with her family and friends. She loved animals, George Jones, and sharing stories.

The family would like to thank the doctors, nurses, and staff at Western Mass Hospital for their wonderful care, love, and support.

A celebration of Marilyn’s life, will be observed on Saturday, November 15, 2025 at the Greenfield Lodge of Elks, 3 Church Street, Greenfield, MA @1:00PM. Marilyn and Donald, will be laid to rest in a private family gathering in the West Deerfield Cemetery in the Spring 2026.
