Marie Ann (Powers) Noga, died peacefully on Sunday evening, February 28, 2016 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA following a brief illness surrounded by her loving family.
She was born in Greenfield, MA on June 13, 1930 to Thomas F. and Victoria (Corsiglia) Powers.  Marie attended the former Holy Trinity Parochial School and Greenfield Public Schools, a graduate of GHS in the Class of 1948.
Marie worked for the former New England Telephone & Telegraph Company, now known as Verizon as a telephone operator for 36 years retiring in 1988.  She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and was active in the Pioneers “Hug-a-Bear” project.  She also devoted many hours knitting for premature infants for Baystate Medical Center in Springfield, MA.  As a knitting enthusiast, many a family members and friends were the recipients of her hand knit fisherman sweaters as well.
A life-long devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield, MA.  Marie married the love of her life, John J. Noga on September 7, 1957 in Holy Trinity Church, Greenfield, MA.  They celebrated 57 years of marriage prior to his passing on September 22, 2014.
Survivors include her loving children:  Martha J. (Noga) Smith and her husband Charles and their daughter Elizabeth, of Greenfield, MA and Anne M. Noga of Salem, MA.  Additionally, she leaves her brother Joseph Powers and his wife Maria, of Albuquerque, NM and several nieces, nephews and grand-nieces and grand-nephews to remember her with great affection.  Marie is also lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Mary Whitten of Boynton Beach, FL, as well as her lifelong friend Doris Bellenoit of Greenfield, MA
Funeral services in loving memory of Marie will be observed on Saturday, March, 5, 2016 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM from Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA with Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Campoli, Pastor as the principle celebrant, assisted by Msgr. Ronald G. Yargeau, Pastor of Holy Trinity Church as concelebrant.  Guests wishing to attend are asked to convene directly at the church on Saturday morning.  Rites of committal and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA.  The Noga family will received guests on Friday, March, 4, 2016 at the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, MA from 5:00PM until 8:00PM.  Due to floral sensitivity issues, Marie’s family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and that expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in their mother’s memory be directed to Blessed Sacrament Church, 182 High Street, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 11454, Alexandria, VA  22312
