Louis J. Benedetti, 78, died peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 6, 2016 following a period of declining health, in the company of those who loved and cared for him.
A native of Greenfield, MA, he was born on July 30, 1937 the son of Joseph and Mary (Stenico) Benedetti.  He attended Greenfield Public Schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in the Class of 1955.  Louis enlisted in the United States Navy on July 20, 1955 and served honorably during the Korean Conflict aboard the USS Vigil (Radar Picket Ship)and attained the rate of BT2 (Boiler Technician 2nd Class) and was honorably discharged on July 7, 1958.
Upon his return to civilian life, he worked for several area manufacturing companies, including the former Bendix Corporation and later, for International Paper (I.P.) in both their Turners Falls and Millers Falls locations as a millwright, retiring in 2001 following the closure of the company.
He is survived by his siblings:  Robert Benedetti and his wife Dottie, of Bernardston, MA; David Benedetti and his wife Ann of Belchertown, MA; his sister-in-law Mary Benedetti (wife of the late Frank Benedetti) of Greenfield, MA.  Additionally, he leaves several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.  Louis is also remembered by his long-time companion and care giver, Barbara A. Krusiewski of Millers Falls, MA.  He was predeceased by his parents and his two brothers, Frank and Joseph. 
Barbara, and his family, would like to express their appreciation to Louis’s care givers, especially Bobbi and Jackie for their excellent care provided during his illness.  Additionally, they would like to extend a special heartfelt thank you to the staff of Hospice of Franklin County for all of their assistance, especially Mary and Deb.
In keeping with Louis’s request for simplicity, visiting hours are omitted.  Services will be private with burial to take place in the family plot in Calvary Cemetery, where he will be reunited with his parents and his brother Joseph.  Military honors will be observed, with a detachment of the USN in attendance to honor him for his service during the Korean Conflict. 
Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in Louis’s memory, are suggested in lieu of flowers to Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway Street, Suite #2, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
