Lorriane G. Leveille

Lorraine G. (Schacht) Leveille, 89, passed peacefully on Friday, January 19, 2018 at the Poet Seat Health Care Center, 359 High Street, following a period of declining health.
A native of Gill, Massachusetts, she was born on October 19, 1928 to William and Myra (Hastings) Schacht. Lorraine attended Gill and Montague Public Schools and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School in the Class of 1946.
She married Gerald A. Leveille, on December 11, 1965 and they celebrated nearly 27 years of marriage together prior to his passing on November 1, 1992.
Lorraine was employed by several area families as a domestic housekeeper for many years. She was formerly associated with the Gill Congregational Church, as well as with the Greenfield B.P.O.E. #1296. She was an avid square dancing enthusiast, which she shared with her late husband. Lorraine enjoyed needlepoint and fine thread crocheting as leisure time activities.
She is lovingly remembered by her several nieces and nephews, none more so than her caregivers: Joan C. Shacht of Turners Falls, MA; Linda Rice of Northfield, MA and Sandy Bernier of VT. Additionally, she leaves her good friends and confidants Patricia Richotte, Susie Maddern and Doug Smith who were also counted among her caregivers. Special appreciation is extended to the Management and Staff of the Poet Seat Health Care Center, Greenfield, MA, for their unwavering care and support provided to Lorraine during her stay with them.
In keeping with Lorraine’s request for simplicity, there will be no formal services or visiting hours. Private burial will take place in the West Gill Cemetery, Gill, and MA, where she will be reunited with her husband Gerald.
