Lorraine Lambert Obituary

Lorraine C. (Gelinas) Lambert, 96, a resident of the Pruitt Health Care Center, Conway, SC., and formerly of 100 High Street, Turners Falls, MA, passed peacefully on September 9, 2022, following a period of declining health.

A native of Palmer, MA, born on October 2, 1925 to David H. and Antoinette (Pelletier) Gelinas. Lorraine was educated in parochial schools in the Three Rivers section of Palmer, the former St. Anne's Parochial School in Turners Falls, and Montague Public Schools.

Lorraine was formerly employed as a hairdresser for several area beauty salons, later working for the former Bendix Corporation in Greenfield, MA, and retired from the Food Service Department of the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA in 1990.

A devout Catholic, she was a member of the former St. Mary's of the Assumption Church in Turners Falls, MA, where she was a member of the Catholic Women's Council for many years. Lorraine enjoyed many hobbies that included knitting, candle pin bowling, music and sports. She was involved in Scouting, as she was a Cub Scout Den Mother for several years, and was a Charter Member of the Ladies of Elks Auxiliary, of the Montague Lodge of Elks, B.P.O.E. #2521, Turners Falls, MA.

She married William A. Lambert, Jr. on February 14, 1944 in the former St. Anne's Church, Turners Falls, MA and he predeceased his loving wife on October 6, 2005 following 61 years of marriage.

Survivors include her son and his wife, Gary D. and Cheryl Lambert of Westfield, MA. In addition, she leaves her grandchildren: Michelle Fortier, Kristin Finn (David), Mark Lambert (Valerie) as well as 7 great-grandchildren: Ashley Fortier, Kassandra Rounds, Zacchary Crockett (Morgan), Johnna Crockett, Bryce Finn and Jeremy and Jillian Lambert, as well as 4 great-great grandchildren. Additionally, she leaves her siblings, Donald H. Gelinas, Diane G. Marty and Janet A. Day, as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Lorraine was predeceased by her siblings Ernest Gelinas and Doris Sutor.

A Liturgy of Christian Burial, will be observed on THURSDAY, OCTOBER 6, 2022 at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA @ 11:00AM, with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor, as the celebrant. Rites of committal and interment will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA, where Lorraine will be laid to rest with her beloved husband Bill.

Expressions of one's affection in memory of Lorraine, are suggested to the Social Justice Committee, of Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA 01376 to the attention of the "Parish Community Meals" program.
