Lawrence D. Foster passed away unexpectedly Sept 30, 2021 in Greenfield MA. Born March 12, 1956 in Montague, MA to Alice M. (Reardon) Foster and Nelson E. Foster, he graduated from the metal fabrication shop of Smith Vocational High School in Northampton in 1974. He won the varsity baseball batting title his senior year of high school and was voted Cadet Captain of the ROTC program.
He spent 50+ years welding and blacksmithing and was employed by the following but not limited to, Ralph's Blacksmithing and Metal Fabrication Shop, Thomas Drilling and Blasting, Lashway Lumber and he ran his own business “Minute Man Springs” and "Metals Plus" from his shop in Greenfield.
He loved hot rods, the television show “Survivor, ZZ Top, playing the guitar, banjo and fiddle and was an enormous fan of music in general. Above ALL, he loved showing his grandson Caleb the tricks of the blacksmithing trade and spending time with him. He is survived by his son James Foster and his wife Rebecca, and the apple of his eye - his grandson Caleb Foster. As well, he is survived by his loving siblings David Foster and Melisa Foster. He was predeceased by both parents, as well as a brother Alan Foster and sister Rosemary Starkey. “We love you and will miss you always Dad”.
