Laura Frances (Dizenski) Martin, 91, formerly of Leyden, MA, passed peacefully on Wednesday evening, March 7, 2018 at the Quabbin Valley Healthcare Center, 821 Daniel Shays Highway, Athol, MA, following a period of declining health.

A native of Hadley, MA, she was born on June 10, 1926 to Frances (Zuchowski) and John Dizenski. Laura attended local public schools and was a graduate of Hopkins Academy in the Class of 1944. She furthered her education by attending the former Northampton Commercial College, where she obtained a certificate in Secretarial Sciences.

Laura worked at home in her younger years, later accepting a secretarial position in the Art Department at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, retiring in 1991. She married the one and only love of her life, Robert L. Martin, who predeceased her in 1999. Laura was also predeceased by her son Alexander and by her sister Florence Russell.

She leaves her loving children: Robert J. Martin and his wife Shelly, of South Deerfield, MA; Leana Taft and her husband Ross, of Gloucester, MA and Ramona Tomlinson of Leyden and her husband Tim, of Sunderland MA, as well as her daughter-in-law Jean Martin of Greenfield, MA. Additionally, she leaves her adoring grandchildren: Brett and Jenna Martin, Tyler and Devin Tomlinson, Hope Martin Light and Laura Martin, along with 9 great grandchildren.

Private graveside services will take place in the spring at the convenience of the family, with inurnment to take place in the South Leyden Cemetery. Visiting hours are omitted. Expressions of affection are preferred in the form of a charitable donation in Laura’s memory to the Dakin Humane Society, P.O. Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01001, in lieu of flowers.
