Greenfield, MassachusettsKarol Arlene (Hanabury) Britton, 75, a resident of Greenfield, MA, passed peacefully from this life to the next on Sunday, May 14, 2017 at the Hospice of the Fisher Home, 1165 North Pleasant Street, Amherst, MA.A native of Shelburne Falls, MA, she was born on January 27, 1942 and was educated in local public schools. Karol worked several years for the Town of Greenfield Public School System, in the Food Service Department. She leaves her loving daughter, Lisa Anne Britton of Greenfield, MA; her two grandsons: Josh Billiel and his wife Kristi, of Pittsburg, PA and Steven Billiel of Turners Falls, MA, as well as her brother Richard Hanabury of Greenfield, MA.Karol was predeceased by her parents Richard and Margaret as well as her beloved son Richard Britton in April of 1997 and her devoted longtime companion, Francis “Fran” Herzig in October of 2006.At Karol’s request, formal services and visiting hours are omitted. Private inurnment following cremation, will take place at the convenience of her family in the Green River Cemetery, Greenfield, MA, with Rev. David Neil, Pastor, of the United Church of Bernardston to officiate.
