June M. (Louden) Currier, 91, of 206 Wisdom Way passed peacefully at home on Monday, December 12, 2022 following a period of declining health. June was born on November 21, 1931 in Glouester, MA, one of three children of Gertrude (Nickerson) and George Louden. She was educated in Greenfield Public Schools, a graduate of GHS in the Class of 1950.
Following her graduation, she was employed for the former Wirthmore Grain Company in Greenfield, MA as a clerical assistant. Later, she worked as a retail clerk at the Valley Farms Store for several years. June married Russell C. Currier on May 30, 1953 at the First United Methodist Church in Greenfield, MA and they celebrated 51 years of marriage prior to his passing on August 11, 2004.
June enjoyed annual family cookouts, reading her favorite magazines “The Good Olde Days” and “ Readers Digest”. She was well known for her delicious homemade baked beans, as well as her famous apple pies, and banana and lemon short breads. June enjoyed roller skating, which she shared with Russ. They were frequent visitors to roller skating arenas throughout the Pioneer Valley. June and Russ could be found dancing many nights away at the former Gable’s Restaurant in Deerfield, MA. June and her olderst son Barry, enjoyed attending the United Church of Bernardston dinners, as well as events at the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge 997 in Greenfield. June enjoyed watching hummingbirds, a pursuit that brought her great joy.
June leaves her loving family to remember her with affection: Sons – Barry D. Currier, Gary J. Currier and his wife, the former Kathy Donelson, Timothy J. Currier and his wife, the former Jaime Mitchell. Grandchildren – Jared R. Currier, Molly G. Currier, Kaila Richards, Rachel Lundgren, Allison Lundgren, Megan Lundgren, Robbie Robinson, Brian Robinson, Samantha Burge, Sabrina Burge, Aaron Banville and Evan Banville, along with seven great-grand children. She is also remembered with love and affection by Maria Burge, who was like a daughter to her. June was predeceased by her parents, as well as by her siblings Lorraine Sanderson and George Louden and by her step-father Alan Frizzel.
Services in celebration of June’s life will be observed on Tuesday, January 3, 2023 at 11:00AM from the First United Methodist Church, 25 Church Street, Greenfield, MA. Mr. Kurt Pearson will be the lay celebrant. Commital services will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Greenfield, MA. Visiting hours have been omitted. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested to either the First Methodist Church of Greenfield, 25 Church St., Greenfield, MA 01301 or to the Loyal Order of Moose, Lodge 997, 20 School Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
