Sunderland, MassachusettsJoyce Marion (Beilstein) Wells Saginario, 79, a resident of the New England Health Center, 61 Old Amherst Road, died peacefully on Sunday morning, August 2, 2015 following a period of declining health. A native of Hackensack, NJ, she was born on July 4, 1936 to Robert G. and Marion (Longson) Beilstein. Joyce was educated in Hawthorn Public Schools and was a graduate of Hawthorn High School in the Class of 1954. She attended Fairleigh Dickinson School of Nursing, graduating in the Class of 1956 as a registered nurse.She married her first husband, John Wells and they began their family with the first of their three daughters. She remained at home caring for their daughters until she went back to work in 1966 as a registered nurse caring for elders in a nursing home. Later, she accepted a nursing position with a local hospital and then returned to geriatric nursing prior to her retirement in 2003, which culminated in 37 years of nursing service. Joyce enjoyed reading political commentary and was a life-long, staunch Democrat. She was a member of the Rosicrucian Order. She was fond of dogs and kept Irish Setters and Yorkshire Terriers. She was a talented amateur decorator, whose skills were lavished upon her family and friends. Joyce was her happiest when spending time with her family. After her first marriage ended in divorce, Joyce was fortunate to have met John A. Saginario whom she married in 1978. They shared 13 years of marriage together until his death in June of 1991. Joyce is lovingly remembered by her children: Son – John A. Saginario II and his wife Kimberly and their son Aiden, of Shelton, CT. Daughters – Cynthia R. Slattery of Heath, MA and her sons Shane Slattery and Justin Arndt; Terry L. Wells and her daughter Leah, of NJ and Claudia M. Wells of Northfield, MA. Additionally, she leaves her sister-in-law Elisa Belsten, of Middle Island, NY, wife of her late brother Robert Belsten who predeceased her in July of 2013, as well as 2 nieces and 2 nephews and several grandnieces and grandnephews. Joyce is also remembered by her childhood life-long friend and classmate, Clare Collet of Cape May, NJ. She is also survived by her former husband, John Wells, of Elmira, NY.In keeping with Joyce’s request for simplicity, visiting hours will be omitted. A private interment service will take place at the Calvary Cemetery, Patterson, NJ following cremation and will be at the convenience of her family.
