James Dubreuil Obituary

Turners Falls, Massachusetts
James Russell Dubreuil, 91, of 51 “O” Street passed peacefully on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at the Buckley Health Care Center, Greenfield, MA, following a period of declining health.
A native of Turners Falls, he was born on February 29, 1924 to Emile and Frances C. (Sazama) Dubreuil.  He was educated in Montague Public Schools and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School in the Class of 1942. As a member of The Greatest Generation, he answered the call to service during WWII, enlisting in the United States Army and served honorably from 1942 until his honorable discharge in 1946, with the 1060th AAF, attaining the rank of Sgt.
Jim was employed for many years as a letter carrier for the US Postal Service out of the Turners Falls Post Office.  He had the “hill route” where he was known for his kindness, generosity and congenial nature, retiring in 1986. Jim enjoyed many past times, none more important than dining and dancing with the love of his life, the former Theresa Rose Suprenant, whom he married on February 12, 1949 in St. Anne’s Church in Turners Falls, MA.  They celebrated 55 years of marriage together prior to her passing in April of 2004.
Additionally, Jim was an avid walker and biker and enjoyed the out of doors.  He was a sportsman and enjoyed hunting and in particular fishing.  He used to sing simply for pure enjoyment, enjoyed swimming and took great pride in tending to his house and yard.  He was a fan of the Detroit Tigers and the New England Patriots.  Jim was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls, MA.
He is lovingly remembered by his daughters: Carol A. Dion and her husband Bruce, of Turners Falls, MA and Christine Dubreuil and her husband, Joe Brunelle, of Greenfield, MA.  Additionally he leaves his adoring grandsons: James R. and Justin P. Dion.  He is also remembered with great affection by his sister, Bernice Vlach of Turners Falls, MA, as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.  He will be missed by his lovable “grand dogs” Oscar and Tiny.  A very special acknowledgement to Raymond Dorhamer, for his steadfast friendship as a lifelong childhood friend to Jim.
Funeral services will be observed on Tuesday, September 22, 2015, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00AM, from Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA, with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor as the celebrant.  Rites of committal and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery. Full military honors will be observed with members of the 54th Massachusetts Army National Guard in attendance, assisted by the Hale-Clapp VFW Post #3295 of South Deerfield, MA providing a firing detail.  A reception will follow and will be announced at the conclusion of the committal services.
At the request of the deceased, visiting hours will be omitted.  The Dubreuil family will receive guests on Tuesday morning in the vestibule of the church from 9:30 am until the time of the funeral liturgy.   Expressions of affection are suggested in Jim’s memory in lieu of flowers, to the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376.
