Jacqueline Edna “Jackie” Johnson, 71, of 4035 Coolidge Hwy, Rte. 5, Guilford, VT., died peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Dartmouth Hitchcock Medical Center, Hanover, NH, folowing a period of declining health.
 
A native of Brattleboro, VT., she was born on March 27, 1946 to Cedric E. and Beatrice L. (Wright) Johnson and was educated in local schools. A 1965 graduate of Brattleboro Union High School, she received her AS in Business from Daniel Webster College in 1978.
She enlisted in the United States Army on August 31, 1967 and served honorably as a Medical Dental Specialist 4th Class (SP4) until her discharge on October 1, 1969 and was awarded the National Defense Medal.  
Jackie was employed as a Nurse’s Aid for several years, having worked at the Thompson House in Brattleboro, VT, the Vernon Green Nursing Home, Vernon, VT and for a former rehabilitation center in Tupper Lake, NY.  She was also, a truck driver for a period of time as well.  Her love of her family was most important to her, along with her affection for her cats.  An adventuresome soul, she lived in Vermont, New Hampshire, New York, Colorado, Arizona and Washington State during her lifetime. She loved the out of doors, gardening, bird watching, collecting porcelain dolls, the art of fine custom sewing and quilting. 
She is lovingly remembered by her children: Lenora Myers, her children: Travis, Steffen and Alison, as well as Christine Mason and her children Melissa and Jasmine.  Jackie also leaves her constant companion, George Belcher of Aurora, CO, and her dearest friend, Alice Bozeman, of Denver, CO. Additionally, Jackie leaves her siblings: Yvonne Serrell, Elaine Kies, Sharon Caples, Pamela Amidon and James Johnson, as well as many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.   She was predeceased by her son Travis, as well as by two sisters: Barbara Powling and Pauline Johnson.
Funeral services will take place in the Vermont Veterans Memorial Cemetery, 487 Furnace Road, Randolph, VT, on Monday, June 26, 2017, with services in the Chapel at 9:00AM, followed by rites of committal at 9:30AM.  Mr. Jack Cooper, Celebrant, will officiate.  Military honors will be conducted by members of the Vermont National Guard in attendance. Visiting hours are omitted. 
Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in Jackie’s memory, are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Windham County Humane Society, 916 W. River Road, Brattleboro, VT  05301.
