Irene A. Fournier

Irene A. (Miller) Fournier, 85, a resident of 363 Conway Street, died Thursday evening, April 5, 2018 peacefully at home, following a period of declining health. A native of Northfield, MA, she was born to Clayton and Vira (Thurston) Miller on July 29, 1933. Irene attended Greenfield Public Schools and was a graduate of GHS in the Class of 1952.

She married Robert L. Fournier, on October 17, 1954 in the First Congregational Church of Greenfield and celebrated 63 years of marriage prior to his passing August 6, 2017. Irene was a devoted stay-at-home mother, who showered her children and husband with love and affection. She was a member of the Women of the Loyal Order of the Moose, #997, Greenfield, MA and was for many years, an avid candlepin bowler in the Turners Falls Young Women’s League at the French King Bowling Alley in Millers Falls, MA. She formerly attended the 1^st Congregational Church of Greenfield. Irene and Bob were frequent visitors to Mohegan Sun and Foxwoods in Connecticut.

Irene is lovingly remembered by her children: Richard A. Fournier and his wife Terry, of Alvaton, KY; Linda M. Fournier of Greenfield, MA, as well as her grandson Cory A. Fournier, of Flagstaff, AZ. Additionally, Irene is remembered by her sister-in-law’s: Doris E. Rand, of Old Lyme, CT and Karen Fournier of Plainfield, MA, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

A celebration of Irene’s life will be conducted at the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, MA on Saturday, April 14, 2018 at 10:00AM with committal services to follow in the South Cemetery, Leyden, MA. Jack Cooper, celebrant, will officiate. A visiting hour will precede the services from 9:00AM until the time of the services. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in Irene’s name are preferred in lieu of flowers to Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway Street, Suite 2, Greenfield, MA 01301
