Frederick Croutworst Obituary

 
Frederick George Croutworst, DC, 82, died Saturday (12/10/2016) at the New England Health Center, Sunderland.  He was born in Leyden on March 21, 1934, the son of William P. and Josephine (Warren) Croutworst.  Fred graduated eighth grade from Beaver Meadow School in Leyden in 1948 and was a 1952 graduate of the Machinist Shop of Greenfield High School. 
He was a machinist at Millers Falls Tool Company, before and after he was drafted by The United States Army.  He obtained a CDL license then drove a tractor trailer for Flemming for years.  Fred graduated from Palmer Junior College in 1970 and Palmer College of Chiropractic, Davenport, IA in 1971.  He had a Chiropractic Practice in Bernardston until his retirement in December 2015.
He was also certified by Bell and Howell in Basic Electronics in 1975 and DeVry Institute of Technology in Home Entertainment Electronics in 1976. In addition to fixing backs, he was the go to person for the farm, family and friends for fixing anything mechanical or electronic. 
He was a lifetime member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Greenfield which he attended regularly.  He is survived by his sisters, Margaret Roe and her husband Howard of Catonsville, MD and their children Christine and Elizabeth of Maryland and Suzanne and her husband Ramesh Nair of Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia;  and Marilyn Kugler of Leyden and her children Maureen Hillier and her husband Wesley of Bernardston, Chester, II (Chuck) and his wife Terri of Santee, CA and their children Bryan and Erica  and Gregg and his wife Nancy of Charlemont and their children Bethany, Lindsey and Scott and Jason of Grafton.  His brother, Robert predeceased him on June 24, 2012. His children Janet Keith and her husband Dwayne of Vernon, VT, Rebecca Faille and her husband John of Northfield and son Paul and his wife Kristin of Halifax, VT. He has seventeen grand nieces and nephews. Although not a Dad, he had a very good rapport with his sibling’s children and grandchildren.
While station in Germany in the Army, he purchased an accordian. This started a collection which he played for his enjoyment and also the family's.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 11:00 with the Reverend Jeffrey A.
