Frank Michael "Mike" Sokolosky

Frank M. “Mike” Sokolosky, 75, of 157 South Street, Plymouth, MA and of 16 Chester Street, Turners Falls, MA, passed away peacefully in the presence of his loving family on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 in Plymouth, MA.  Michael was born in Greenfield, MA on October 6, 1938 the son of Frank A. and Frances (Gers) Sokolosky.
He was educated in Greenfield Public Schools and graduated from GHS in the Class of 1956.  Mike attended the University of Massachusetts in Amherst and received his Associate Degree in Civil Engineering from STCC, graduating Magna Cum Laude. 
He served honorably in the United States Army, from 1957 to 1960, with A Battery, 1st Battalion attaining the rank of SP4.  Mike was employed as a civil engineer for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Highway Department for 35 years. He was a member and past president of the Montague Lion’s Club and member of the Franklin County Civil Air Patrol. He served on the Montague Airport Commission and fulfilled his life long dream of earning his private pilot’s license.  He enjoyed spending time with his family, as well as golfing, woodworking, fishing and hunting.  Mike was a devout communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls, MA, where he served as a parish lector and was a staunch supporter of Montague Catholic Social Ministries. 
He married his “best friend” the former Helen M. Zeno, on September 1, 1962 in Bellows Falls, VT.  In addition to his wife of 51 years, Mike is lovingly remembered by his three children: Karin Gravina and her husband Carl, of Leverett, MA; Jennifer Sokolosky Smith and her husband Billy, of Eldersburg, MD, and Nancy Horwood and her husband Ron, of Sandwich, MA.  He also leaves behind his loving grandchildren: Ryan, Mark, Caroline, Delaney, Nolan, Brennan and Crystal.  Additionally, he leaves his sisters: Kathie Tessier of Chesterfield, MA and Martha Knightly of Ware, MA and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. 
Services in celebration of Mike’s life, will be observed on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11:00AM.  Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor, with be the celebrant.  Rites of committal and burial will full military honors will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA, with members of the 54th Massachusetts Army National Guard in attendance, assisted by the Hale-Clapp VFW Post #3295 of South Deerfield, MA.  A visiting hour will precede the services, on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 from the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 14 Prospect Street, Turners Falls, MA from 9:15AM until 10:15AM.
