Turners Falls, MassachusettsFernande Regina “Freddie”(Laramie) Tibbetts, 89, a native and former resident of Turners Falls, MA, died Thursday afternoon, May 19, 2016 at the Buckley Health Care Center, following a period of declining health.She was born in Turners Falls, MA on May 31, 1926, to George and Olivine (Parenteau) Laramie. Freddie attended the former St. Anne’s Parochial School, later Montague Public Schools. She retired from the former Railroad Salvage Store where she worked for many years as a cashier and sales clerk.She married Henry J. Tibbetts on May 31, 1947 (on the occasion of her 21st birthday) in the former St. Anne’s Church in Turners Falls, MA. He predeceased her on April 12, 2001 following nearly 54 years of marriage together. Freddie enjoyed many activities including: reading (especially newspapers), word search puzzles, visiting with family and friends, walking and collecting various items regarding Eagles, (Bald Eagles-not the band or the Philadelphia football team!) including carvings, figurines, flags, photos and much, much more. She was fond of fruit, in particular “peaches”!Survivors include her loving children: Donna M. Murley and her husband Ronald, of San Antonio, TX, David G. of Stockbridge, MA, James E. and his wife Rolande, of San Antonio, TX and Bruce M. and his wife Robin, of Greenfield, MA. Additionally, Freddie is remembered with great affection by her grandchildren: Jamie, Jonathan, Sarah, Nathan, Colin, Melanie, Emily, Rachael and Stephanie, as well as her great grandchildren Kylie, Olivia T., Bethany, Eve, George, Eli and Olivia B. Additionally she leaves several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews.Funeral services will be conducted on Wednesday, May 25, 2016 from the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 14 Prospect Street, Turners Falls, MA at 10:30AM, with Rev. Fr. Stanley J. Aksamit, Pastor of Our Lady of Peace Church to offer the Catholic Rite of Burial Service. Rites of committal and burial will follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA. The Tibbetts family will receive guests on Wednesday morning from 9:30AM until the time of the services. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable gift in Freddie’s memory are suggested in lieu of flowers to either, the Yankee Family Dialysis Center, 115 Wildwood Avenue, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to Hospice of Franklin County, 329 Conway Street, Suite 2, Greenfield, MA 01301.
