Eva Marie (Togneri) Babits, 81, a native of Greenfield, passed peacefully on Sunday evening, February 16, 2025 at the Regal Care Assisted Living Center, following a period of declining health. Eva was born on January, 1, 1944 the only child of Joseph and Yvonne (Roberge) Togneri. Eva attended Holy Trinity Parochial School and was a graduate of Greenfield High School in the Class of 1962. She furthered her education by attending and graduating form the Kay Harvey Hairdressing School in Springfield, MA.
Eva was employed by the former Evelyn's Beauty Shop in Greenfield, MA, as well as for the former Buckley Nursing Home as a professional hairstylist for many years. A devout Catholic, Eva was a communicant of Holy Trinity Parish where she was a member of the Rosary Sodality and was active in the annual parish Christmas Bazaar's knitting pot holders and making rosary's. Later in life, she became a communicant of Blessed Sacrament Church, where she was active in the Hearts of Mary & Jesus prayer group. At the time of Eva's passing, she was a communicant of the parish of Blessed Trinity.
Eva enjoyed ice skating, bowling, reading, arts and crafts, playing cards with family, trips to lake Winnipesaukee and to the casinos to play bingo and the slots with family and friends. She married Philip George Babits, on June 9, 1968 in Holy Trinity Church. Sadly, Phil predeceased her on January 23, 2023 following 54 years of marriage. Eva is lovingly remembered by her sister-in-law, Carol A. Graves of Turners Falls, MA, her brother-in-law Donald Babits and his wife Pat of Greenfield, MA, her 1st Cousins Norman and Gary Therien as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great grandnieces and great grandnephews.
A Liturgy of Christian Burial, will be observed on Saturday, March 8th, 2025 at Blessed Trinity Parish, Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA @11:00AM in celebration of Eva's life and many gifts. Interment and committal services will follow in the Green River Cemetery, 56 Wisdom Way, Greenfield, where Eva will be reunited with her beloved husband Philip. Visiting hours are omitted. Expressions of one's affection are suggested in the form of a charitable contribution in Eva's memory to the parish of Blessed Trinity, 14 Beacon Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
