Elena Marie Darby

Elena Marie Darby, 97, of Greenfield MA, died peacefully on July 13, 2025, at home with her family surrounded by her side.  She was born in Manhattan on February 27,1928 the daughter of the late John and Mary Darby (Castro). Predeceased  by brothers Thomas, Willie and Edward.  

Elena raised 5 children William (Billy) (Laura), Karen, Arlene, Robert (Kelli) and Craig Bensch in Centerport NY. Karen was Elena's constant, if you saw Elena you saw Karen. Elena would say when her children were whole her heart was full. Elena leaves behind her godchild, niece Michel (Shelli) Darby, granddaughters Brittany Elena, (Fabian) Alyssa (Neil) and Walker Darby Bensch (Adele).

The family would like to express their sincere gratitude for the kindness that Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative gave to her.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Elena's memory to Pioneer Valley Hospice & Palliative Care, 101 Munson Street, Suite 103, Greenfield, MA 01301. At Elena's request there will be no services. A Mass in remembrance of Elena will be held, Wednesday, August 6th at 12:05 p.m. at Holy Trinity Church, 133 Main Street, Greenfield.
