Holyoke, MassachusettsEleanor “Dede” (Weiss) Rosner, 91, passed peacefully on Sunday evening, May 10, 2015 at the Loomis House Skilled Nursing Center, 298 Jarvis Avenue, Holyoke, MA.A native of Springfield, MA, she was born on November 29, 1923, daughter to Samuel and Ida (Harrison) Weiss. She resided with her family in Greenfield, MA, attending local public schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in the Class of 1941. She furthered her education by attending Becker Junior College, attaining an Associate’s Degree in Medical Administration. Eleanor was employed from 1944 until 1955, by the Veteran’s Administration as medical assistant. It was during this time that she met her future husband, Dr. Alfred Rosner. They were married on February 20, 1955 and celebrated 42 years of marriage, prior to his passing in November of 1997.Dede was a classically trained pianist, who had a deep love and appreciation music and the arts, as she was also an accomplished artist who enjoyed oil painting. She was a frequent visitor to the Clark Art Institute in Williamstown, MA, as well as to Tanglewood in Lenox, MA. Dede was a member of the “Tuesday Morning” music club and was an avid bowler.Survivors include her beloved children: Heidi Silverman and her husband Stuart, of Peabody, MA; Rob Rosner and his wife Leslie, of Austin, TX and Jon Rosner of Saratoga, CA and her former daughter-in-law; Corina. Additionally Dede leaves her loving grandchildren: Alana, Samuel, Arielle and Aleah, as well as her sister Carol Arkush and her husband Howard of Greenfield, MA and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Private graveside services will be observed at the Greenfield Hebrew Cemetery, Greenfield, MA with Rabbi Saul Perlmutter, friend of the family to officiate. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in Dede’s memory, are suggested to the charity of the donor’s choice.
