Earlene Therese Harold, 67, a resident of 9 Lester St., Apt. A, passed peacefully on Saturday, September 25, 20231 at home in the presence of her loving husband Richard Newton, following a period of failing health.
Earlene was born in Greenfield, MA, born on December 12, 1953 to Theresa (Bezio) and Earl Joseph Harold, and resided in Colrain. She was educated in local public schools, a graduate of Mohawk Trail Regional High School in the Class of 1972, where she was a member of the school band and played the clarinet.
She resided in Colrain until 2010, when she moved to accept a position with Citibank, as a customer service representative, returning to Massachusetts in 2018. Previously, she was employed by the former Phoenix Home Life Insurance Company in Greenfield, and for Greenfield Dentistry.
Earlene had a passion for music, who enjoyed playing the ukulele immensely. She loved to sing, and was a member of many different choirs, most recently with the Heath Union Church Choir and the 4D1G Gospel Choir with some karaoke thrown in for “just fun”. Additionally, she enjoyed line dancing, volunteering to work with the elderly in local nursing facilities, reading and playing cards. An avid New England Patriot’s fan, she never missed a game. Though she liked to sew and quilt, she enjoyed crocheting the most, and made hundreds of Afghans that were donated to neo-natal units in various hospitals as well as for Veteran’s Homes. Earlene was an animal lover, whose constant companion was her dog Olive.
She married Richard Newton on November 23, 2019 in a church service, and resided in Erving together since. In addition to her loving husband, she leaves her two sons: Auston Hager-Perry and Morgan Hager-Perry, both serving in our nation’s armed services at the present time.
In keeping with Earlene’s request for simplicity, visiting hours will be omitted.
A Memorial Service with an emphasis on music will take place at the Heath Union Church, 5 East Main Street, Heath, MA on Sunday, October 17th, 2021 at 10:00AM, with Rev. Neil Stetson, Pastor, to officiate.
At Earlene’s request, following cremation her remains will be scattered at a favorite destination of her choosing. Expressions of affection are preferred in lieu of flowers, to the Heath Union Church, in c/o the “Organ Fund” at 5 East Main St., Health, MA 01346.
