Douglas Gordon Obituary

Douglas Robert Gordon, “Doug” to his family and friends, passed unexpectedly at home on May 8, 2025.

Doug was born on March 2, 1954 in Greenfield, MA where he was raised by his father Ralph E. Gordon Sr and his beloved grandparents Joseph and Olive Gordon. He attended Greenfield High School from 1969-1971 before earning his GED in the summer of 1973. Shortly after he enlisted in the United States Navy and served until 1977. Upon returning to Greenfield a few years later, he became a bartender at the former Scotch Mist bar. In July 1980 while working, a patron told the waitress she would like to order the bartender. Less than a year later in May 1981 that patron, Jackie, became his wife.

Following in his father’s journalistic footsteps, Doug worked in sales and delivery for many newspapers; including The Recorder, Barret & Baker Country News, Franklin County News, USA Today, and Holyoke News. After many years of working in the newspaper business, Doug earned his associates degree in Computer Science from Holyoke Community College which led to him opening his own business, Lincoln Computer. The business grew and he eventually opened a store front on Main St. in Greenfield known as GNetTek.

Doug had many hobbies including carpentry, building and fixing computers, boating, rebuilding old cars, reading, and airplanes. Doug also enjoyed good food, cold beer, and a smooth Scotch.

Doug is survived by his loving wife of almost 45 years, Jacqueline A. (Corliss) Gordon. His daughters Kathryn A. Dunham and her husband Jeremy of Townshend, VT and Elizabeth N. Cicia and her husband Daniel of Sunderland, MA. He leaves behind three 3 adored grandsons; Tyler Dunham-Williams, and Leonardo and Vincent Cicia. Additionally, 3 bonus grandsons; Connor, Dakota, and Bayley Dunham.

Doug leaves his brothers, Jeffrey Gordon and wife Debbie and Ralph E. Gordon Jr. and wife Sue. He leaves behind many nieces and nephews as well. Doug was pre-deceased by his dear father Ralph E. Gordon Sr, his mother Margaret Randall Jones, his step-mother Charlotte S. Gordon, and his grandparents Joseph and Olive Gordon.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date to be announced and veteran’s burial services will be held privately for the family in Winchendon, MA. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Doug’s name to the American Heart Association.
