Turners Falls, MassachusettsDonna Ann (Roach) Cummings, 62, of 9 K Street, passed peacefully on Thursday evening at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, 164 High Street, Greenfield, MA following a period of declining health.She was born on May 1, 1954 in Tewksbury, MA to Walter H. and Virginia A. (Cromie) Roach and grew up in Dedham, MA, attending public schools and was a graduate of Dedham High School in the Class of 1972.Donna was employed for 18 years by the former Franklin County Home Health Care Corporation, now known as LifePath, as a driver for their meals on wheels program. A sports enthusiast, Donna was a diehard fan of the Boston Bruins, New England Patriots and Boston Red Sox. She enjoyed country western music, in particular that of Reba McEntire and Anne Murray. Donna also enjoyed cross word puzzles, traveling, celebrating the holidays and spending time with her family and occasional trips to the beach. One of her favorite local haunts was the Shady Glen restaurant in Turners Falls, MA, where she and her husband were regulars and often could be found treating their grandchildren to ice cream, in particular their granddaughter Allie. She married the love of her life, Albert Lawrence Cummings, in Dedham, MA on February 11, 1979. In addition to her loving and devoted husband of 37 years, she is remembered with love and affection by her two children: Alan J. Cummings of Turners Falls, MA and his children Landon James Leon Cummings and Nicholas Alan Cummings; Kimberly Ann Haskins and her husband Richard, of Greenfield, MA and their children Ali Grace Haskins and Madelyn Dakota Haskins. Additionally, she leaves her mother, Virginia A. “Ginny” (Cromie) (Roach) Warsher, of Brockton, MA and her brother Jeffrey Roach and his wife Kris, of Ware, MA, as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews who adore her. She was predeceased by her father, Walter Henry Roach in 1980.In keeping with Donna’s request, she will be cremated and inurnment will take place at the convenience of the family in Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, VA in the future. Visiting hours are omitted. Donna’s family invites relatives and friends to join them for a life celebration gathering, on Sunday, July 24, 2016 at Pete’s Seafood Restaurant, 54 School Street, Greenfield, MA from 2:00PM until 5:00PM. At Donna’s request, those attending are asked to dress casually and are encouraged to wear their Bruins, Patriots or Red Sox “garb” to honor her and her passionate love of sports. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in Donna’s memory, are suggested in lieu of flowers to LifePath, 330 Montague City Road, Suite 1, Turners Falls, MA 01376 in c/o the “Meals on Wheels” program.
