David E. Foster, 73, a resident of Montague Center, MA, passed peacefully at home on Wednesday, April 6, 2022.

A native of Montague, MA, David was born on March 19, 1949 to Alice Marie (Reardon) and Nelson Edward Foster. David was educated in Montague Public Schools and was a graduate of Turners Falls High School in the Class of 1967. He married the love of his life and high school sweetheart, the former Christine Olive Mills on February 21, 1969 in Turners Falls, MA and they celebrated 50 years of marriage together prior to her passing on May 1, 2019. He was employed for many years by the Montague Machine Co. of Turners Falls, MA as a millwright and retired in 2015.

David and Chris enjoyed traveling to the islands of the Caribbean, West Yarmouth on Cape Cod and to various destinations along the Maine seacoast. David and Christina enjoyed working around their home and watching the wild turkeys, deer and an occasional bear that frequented their yard in Montague. David enjoyed woodworking, finish carpentry and was an avid sportsman. He also enjoyed snowmobile racing with Chris, motorcycles, cars and trucks and was loyal fan of the New England Patriots, Boston Red Sox, Celtics and Bruins since his youth. David also enjoyed assisting his wife at events held at the First Congregational Church of Montague, which included the annual Fete Noel Christmas bazaar, church suppers, the annual Old Home Days event and church auction.  He also shared his many carpentry and other skills when called upon at the church.

David was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and brother, who is remembered with love and affection by his daughter Doreen, son Mathew and his wife Amanda, grandson Zachary, and his sister Melissa. Additionally, he will be missed by his adoring grand-kitty Orion. Sadly, he was pre-deceased by his parents Alice and Nelson, as well as by his siblings Rosemary, Alan and Larry.

A celebration of David’s life will be held at the Montague Congregational Church at a future date and time to be announced. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in David’s name are preferred in lieu of flowers to the Montague Congregational Church, P.O. Box 65, Montague, MA 01351.
