Greenfield, MassachusettsDarlene A. (Fisher) Schacht, 57, of 419 Plain Road, died Tuesday, February 24, 2015 at the Charlene Manor Extended Care nursing facility, following a period of declining health, surrounded by her loving family.A native of Greenfield, MA, she was born on August 3, 1957 to Alfred William “Bill” Fisher and Sophie Teresa (Kwiatkowska) Fisher. She attended local public schools and graduated from Greenfield High School in the Class of 1975. She furthered her education by receiving a certificate in Early Childhood Development.Darlene worked for the Channing L. Bete Co. for thirty years in the customer service department, until she stepped down due to ill health. Prior to Channing L. Bete, she had worked for the former Ingersol Rand (Millers Falls Tool Company) and J. H. Smith Company. Additionally, she worked part-time over the years for the former Food Mart Grocery, Neighbor’s Fuel and Convenience Mart and for The Barn. She enjoyed many activities that included ceramics, glass engraving, macramé, gold panning and raising chickens that were referred to as her “girls”. Darlene was loved by her family, as well as a “family of friends” who will remember her with great affection.She leaves her loving and devoted husband of 34 years: Earl G. Schacht, whom she married on June 5, 1980 in Greenfield, MA. Additionally, she leaves her adoring children: Keelee Lemke and her husband Justin of South Hadley, MA; Erin Schacht of Greenfield, MA; Holly Streeter and her husband Nicholas of Greenfield, MA and Erik T. Schacht of Greenfield, MA, as well as her grandchildren: Austin, Hailee, Ava, Saige, Rori and Aidan. Darlene leaves her brother William J. “Bill” Fisher and his wife Linda, of Greenfield, MA. Additionally, she is remembered by her aunts: Helen and Jenny Kwiatkowska of Chelsea, MA, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and cousins. She was predeceased by her parents, as well as her two siblings: Caroline and Robert Fisher. At the family’s request, services will be private and at the convenience of her family and visiting hours are omitted.
