Turners Falls, MassachusettsCurtis “Curt” Williams, 75, a resident of the Winslow Wentworth House, 60 J Street, Apt. 13, died Monday evening, October 10, 2017 at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, 164 High Street, Greenfield, MA, following a period of declining health.A native of Greenfield, MA, he was born on August 1, 1942 to Albert and Vera (Borden) Williams and was educated in Greenfield Public Schools, graduating from GHS in 1960. While at GHS, he was a standout member of the Green Wave varsity football team as a running back, defensive lineman and punt returner. Following his graduation from high school, he went to work for the Town of Greenfield in the Department of Public Works, retiring as an equipment operator in 1999. Curt was an avid angler, who along with his fishing sidekick Bobby Hale, could be found along the waterways, streams and ponds of Franklin County. He also enjoyed salt water fishing, hunting for birds of prey and deer. He was proud of his vegetable garden, tending to his home and yard, hosting many cookouts and family gatherings and celebrating the holidays. He continued his love of the game of football, as a fan of the Pittsburg Steelers and the Dallas Cowboys, all the while residing in the midst of Giants and Patriots country. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor and his ability for storytelling and bringing laughter to his household and family over the years. He leaves to remember him with affection his five children: Karena LeFrancois of Athol, MA; Simonne Westort and her husband Aaron, of Charlemont, MA; Curtis Williams; Jeff Williams and his wife Lisa, of Gardner, MA and Jeremy Williams and his wife Tina, of Greenfield, MA. Additionally, he leaves his siblings: Billy Williams and his wife Donna of Springfield, MA; Joyce Kawecki and her husband Edward of Bernardston, MA; Shirley Cross and her husband Charlie of Southwick, MA and Judy Crafts of Greenfield, MA, along with 10 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Furthermore, he leaves his wife the former Elaine Wilson Cronin of North Carolina, as well as his former spouse Simonne Liberty of Florida.At the request of the deceased, no formal services or visiting hours will be observed. Following cremation, a private gathering of remembrance will take place at the convenience of his family and close friends. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in Curt’s memory, are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Salvation Army, 72 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA 01301.
