Carol Campbell

Carol Ann Campbell, 86, a resident of the Turners Falls village of the Town of Montague, passed unexpectedly on Tuesday February 11, 2025, at the Charlene Manor Extended Care Facility, 130 Colrain Road, Greenfield, MA. She had experienced a period of declining health since surviving an acute stroke in her home last August.

Carol was born on November 4, 1938, in Greenfield, MA., the fourth daughter to Frederick J. and Leontine M. Kenney, formerly of Tracadie, NB, CAN. She was educated and attended the former Holy Trinity Parochial School in Greenfield. Following grammar school, Carol rode the daily train to Northampton where she studied and graduated from St. Michael's High School on June 16, 1957. She was a devout Catholic attending Our Lady of Peace Parish as a faithful communicant for 20 years while she remained a regularly active member. Fellowshipping regularly with her women's group known as "the girls", Carol was a highly organized leader who volunteered to serve in a host of church-sponsored events. These included creating and executing many of the themes for the annual church picnic. Also, Carol extravagantly donated her uniquely created crafts for the yearly Fall Bazaar. For over half a decade, she and her late husband Paul sponsored a young man, Pascal from Central America.

Carol is lovingly remembered by all who knew her, dozens of family members, friends, and neighbors. Carol fondly served, led, and thoroughly enjoyed spending time with her family, who were the most important and treasured possessions to her. During Carol's entire adult life, in both her Greenfield, Davis St and Turners Falls, O St. neighborhoods, her warm gift of hospitality was like a lighthouse for those privileged to live nearby. This local community, her friends and family, especially Carol's three children and their spouses, along with grandchildren and their mates will miss her words of wisdom, wacky cake recipe, trips to Rockport MA, Wells, Maine, the Cape, sewing creations and her wonderful thrifty finds at The Salvation Army and The Survival Center. Carol was an amazingly gifted lady who absolutely loved to give her time, gifts and talents by sharing all she had with others.

Carol leaves her three children, eight grandchildren and two great grandchildren: Jeff P. Campbell, his wife Roberta and their children Bethanie (Ethan) (granddaughter- Olivia) and Charity; Lisa Ann Kimball, her children Nicholas (Andrea), Colby, Sara (grandson-Camden) Kellie; Sharon Andrew (Paul) and their children Stacey and Scott (Brittany) in addition to many nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Carol is also remembered with affection by her brothers Vincent, his wife Linda, and Richard, sister-in-law Mary Lou Moore, as well as her brother-in-law Larry Roy. She was preceded in death by her husband Paul F. Campbell, parents, Fred and Lee Kenney, her sisters Mary, Teresa, Rita, and a brother who died in infancy,

Carol's three children would like to recognize and say "thank you" to the entire administrative, maintenance, food service and nursing staff of Charlene Manor, as well as to the volunteers, nurses and members from the team managed by Pioneer Valley Hospice and Palliative Care.

In keeping with Carol's request for simplicity, following cremation she will be interred at the Massachusetts Veteran's Memorial Cemetery, 1390 Main Street, Agawam, MA, in a private service for family to be laid to rest beside her sweetheart, Paul, of 63 years. The McCarthy Funeral Homes of Greenfield and Turners Falls, MA, have been entrusted with Carol's care and arrangements.
