Shutesbury, MassachusettsCarol Ann (Kowalski) Bruno, 62, of 27 Merrill Drive, passed peacefully in the comfort of her home with family at her side on Sunday, October 11, 2015 following a period of declining health. A native of Greenfield, MA, she was born on August 12, 1953 and was educated in Greenfield Public Schools, a graduate of GHS in the Class of 1971. Carol furthered her education by attending the Mt. Auburn Hospital School of Nursing in Cambridge, MA, graduating in the Class of 1974 with a degree in clinical nursing and became a RN. Carol’s nursing career spanned nearly 41 years, working for BSFMC and Yankee Family Dialysis in Greenfield, MA. She later served as a hospice nurse for Hospice of Franklin County and most recently, at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA in the nephrology/dialysis unit.Carol enjoyed many activities and interests. They included shopping at the outlets for shoes and handbags, trips to Foxwoods (where she enjoyed games of video poker), salt water fishing, traveling to the beaches of Maine and New London, CT and was a passionate fan of the New England Patriots and #12 Tom Brady. She will be remembered for her devotion to her family, friends and for her sense of humor. She married Thomas P. Bruno on October 8, 1977 in Blessed Sacrament Church in Greenfield, MA. In addition to her beloved husband of 38 years, Carol is loving remembered by her children: Lindsay A. McQuade and her husband Richie and their daughter Julia of West Bridgewater, MA and Adam P. Bruno, of South Boston, MA. Additionally she leaves her devoted sister Nancy Hulbert and her husband Allyn, of Greenfield, MA, as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Carol leaves her devoted and special friends Diane and Mike Morrissey, of Greenfield, MA. A Liturgy of Christian Burial will be observed on Friday, October 16, 2015 at Blessed Sacrament Church, 221 Federal Street, Greenfield, MA at 10:00AM, with Rev. Fr. Timothy J. Campoli, Pastor, as the celebrant. Rites of committal and burial will follow in the Calvary Cemetery, Greenfield, MA. A reception will be announced at the conclusion of the committal service. Visiting hours will take place on Thursday, October 15, 2015 from the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 36 Bank Row, Greenfield, MA from 4PM until 7PM.
