Bruce A. Silliman, 83, of 12 Aster Court, Greenfield, MA, passed peacefully on August 31, 2021 at Baystate Franklin Medical Center, Greenfield, MA, following a period of declining health.
A native of Templeton, MA, he was born on June 4, 1938 to Norris and Alice (Adams) Silliman and was educated in local public schools, graduating from GHS in the Class of 1956. He enlisted in the USA on February 16, 1959 and served honorably during the Vietnam Conflict with HQ Battery, 1st Battalion,19th Artillery Division and was honorably discharged with the rank of SP-4 on April 3, 1962.
Upon his return to civilian life, he worked at Greenfield Storage and LaPierre's Applicance. In the 1980's Bruce accepted a position with the City of Greenfield Department of Public Works, and at the time of his retirement was assigned to the Water Department as a “journeyman plumber”.
His is lovingly remembered by his daughter, Kimberly Silliman of Greenfield, MA, as well as by his spouse Diane M. Silliman of Fitchburg, MA and his son Mark Silliman of Greenfield, MA.
At Bruce’s request, services and interment will be private in the Massachusetts Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Winchendon, MA, where he will be laid to rest with military honors among his fellow service brethren. Military honors to be provided by the 54th Massachusetts Army National Guard Honor Guard in his memory.
