Brian T. Rourke, Sr.

Brian T. Rourke, Sr., 60, of Sunderland, MA passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 21, 2016 at the Cooley Dickinson Hospital, Northampton, MA following a brief period of failing health.
Brian was born on February 4, 1956 to Muriel (Bennett) Rourke Buckingham and U.S. Army Master Sargent William Rourke while his father was stationed in Tokyo, Japan. He is survived by his sons Brian T. Rourke, Jr. and Benjamin D. Rourke of New Hampshire, his mother Muriel B. Buckingham and his younger sister Joy E. Buckingham and brother in law Ward M. LaValley, Jr. of Errol, N.H., his niece Elizabeth Buckingham Connor of Portland, ME, and his older brother Glen G. Rourke of Aurora, CO.
Brian is predeceased by his father William Rourke of San Bernardino, CA who retired as a Warrant Officer from the U.S. Army after twenty years of service to his country, his grandmother Marjorie Bennett Lippincott and grandfather Harry Lippincott and his uncle Walter Bennett all of Asbury Park, NJ and his uncle Thomas Bennett of Sanford, FL.
Brian was a man of few words but with a large heart. He was always the first to volunteer a helping hand, drive someone to an appointment, or pay for a veteran’s meal. His wry sense of humor and good will to all who were blessed to know him will surely be missed.
A private family service will be observed upon interment in the family plot at the Groton Cemetery in Groton, MA. In memoriam please donate to one of the following charities in Brian’s name: The Wounded Warrior Project, Disabled American Veterans or Veterans of Foreign Wars.
