Gill, MassachusettsBen “Benny” Bessette, 27, of 4 Main Road, died Thursday, February 12, 2015 at Baystate Medical Center, Springfield, MA, due to complications associated with a respiratory condition. Born on April 28, 1987 to Dana F. and Joan A. (Gleason) Bessette, he was educated in Montague Public Schools and was a graduate of Franklin County Technical School, where he excelled in the auto body program. At the time of Ben’s passing, he was working at the Spirit Shoppe in both Deerfield and Gill, MA, as well as for Dunkin Donut’s in Deerfield. Ben was an avid New York Yankee’s fan, living in Red Sox nation. He loved children, who were drawn to his gentle and loving spirit. Ben enjoyed fresh water fishing and the ocean, in particular his favorite destination - Hampton Beach, NH. He could be found, most often, spending time with his family and numerous friends. He is lovingly remembered by his parents of Turners Falls, MA, as well as by his siblings: Jeffrey A. Bessette of Northfield, MA, Jannell A. Belanger of OK, Stephanie A. Belanger of Turners Falls, MA and Jessica M. Fox and her husband Noah, of Turners Falls, MA. Additionally, Ben leaves his devoted paternal grandmother-Amelia “Millie” Bessette of Turners Falls, MA, in addition to his nieces and nephews: Kaineeca, Taylana, Natalie, Brittany and Liam, as well as several Aunts, Uncles and cousins to remember him with great affection.He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents – Theresa and Rudolph Gleason, and by his paternal grandfather-Charles Bessette.Services in celebration of Ben’s life, will be conducted on Saturday, February 21, 2015 at 11:00AM, from the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 14 Prospect Street, Turners Falls, MA. Rev. Fr. Thomas Lisowski, Pastor of St. Patrick’s Church, Northfield, MA to preside and offer the Catholic Rite of Burial service. Rites of committal and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA. Guests may call prior on Saturday morning, from 9:00AM until the time of the services.Expressions of affection in the form of charitable contributions in Ben’s memory, are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Salvation Army of Greenfield, 72 Chapman Street, Greenfield, MA 01301 or to Life Choice Donor Services, Attn: Deborah Savaria-CEO, 8 Griffin Road North, Suite 200B, Windsor, CT 06095, as Ben was a donor.. .
