Arthur Harold Harvey, Jr., 84, of 519 East River Street, Lot#55, passed peacefully on Wednesday, June 24, 2015 at the Poet Seat Health Care Center, 359 High Street, Greenfield, MA following a period of declining health.
A native of Greenfield, MA, he was born on September 28, 1930 to Arthur Harold Harvey Sr., and Helen (Greuling) Harvey. He served honorably during the Korean Conflict in the United States Army, assigned to Company D, 32nd Infantry Regiment, 7th Division from January 1952 until October of 1953 and attained the rank of Private First Class. 
Upon his return to civilian life, Arthur was a professional driving instructor for many years for the former Farrell’s Driving School in Greenfield MA.  He later established his own company, known as Harvey’s Driving School, which he operated until his retirement. Arthur was an avid movie collector of several genres and was fond of Boston Terriers.  
He married the former Polly A. Hilliard, who predeceased him in 2008.  He leaves his dear friends and caregivers, Gail and George LeBlanc of Wendell, MA, his childhood friend Rev. Fr. Robert Thrasher, as well as a sister-in-law, several nieces and nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and additionally several cousins residing in Canada.  He also leaves his Boston terrier “Molly”.
At the request of the deceased, services will be private in nature following cremation, with inurnment to take place in the Green River Cemetery, Greenfield, MA. Rites of committal will be offered by his friend, Rev. Fr. Robert Thrasher and military honors will be observed with members of the 54th Massachusetts Army National Guard in attendance, assisted by the Hale-Clapp VFW Post #3295 of South Deerfield to provide a firing detail.  Visiting hours have been omitted.  It is suggested that expressions of affection in Arthur’s memory be directed in the form of a charitable contribution to the Dakin Humane Society, P.O. Box 6307, Springfield, MA 01001 in lieu of flowers.
