Greenfield, MassachusettsAntonia (Passini) Nothdurft, 97, a resident of the Arbors of Greenfield, 15 Meridian Street, Apt. 216, passed peacefully on Tuesday evening, April 17, 2018 at home following a period of declining health, with her loving family at her side. A native of the City of Gmund, Austria, she was born on June 7, 1920 to Rudolf and Johanna (Zingerle) Passini and was educated in local public schools. While in Austria, she was educated and trained as a dental technician. She married Peter Nothdurft, who immigrated to the United States as part of the relocation of German refugees. He was joined some time later, by Antonia and their first daughter Claudia in 1951. They settled in South Hadley, Massachusetts and welcomed the arrival of their second daughter, Joan. They moved as a family to West Springfield, MA, where they resided and after Peter’s passing in 1997 she continued to maintain the residence. After several more years she moved to Greenfield to be near her daughter Joan. Antonia was a stay at home mother and homemaker. She occasionally worked outside of the home performing private duty housekeeping for local families. Antonia took great pride in keeping an immaculately maintained flower garden and yard at their West Springfield home. As well as an avid knitter, she was an accomplished seamstress, who possessed fine tailoring skills. She was a member of the Ladies Singing Group of the former Springfield Turnverein Club in Agawam, MA for many years. Antonia traveled extensively to her Austrian home in Gmund to visit family and friends, some 25 times over the years. She is lovingly remembered by her daughter, Joan Baker of Greenfield, MA, along with her two (2) grandchildren: Karen Ingram (Scott) and their children Jonathan and Christopher and Kathy Weiss (Kevin) and their children Griffin and Trevor. Additionally, she leaves her son-in-law Peter Clempa and his wife Barbara of Chicopee, MA, as well as several nieces and nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews. Sadly, she was predeceased by her parents, her husband Peter, her daughter Claudia and her sisters Isolde of Austria and Gerte of Australia. In keeping with Antonia’s wishes for simplicity, she will be cremated and there will be no formal services or visiting hours. Expressions of affection in the form of a charitable contribution in her memory, are respectfully requested in lieu of flowers to the VNA/Hospice of Cooley Dickinson Hospital, 168 Industrial Drive, Northampton, MA 01060.
