This is an informal gathering to share memories and reflections of Anne’s life with her family and with one another. Casual attire is encouraged.

Anne M. (Blakelock) Kretzenger, 86, a resident of 442 Federal Street, Hunting Hills Nursery, died peacefully at home in the presence of family on Monday, November 27, 2017 following a period of declining health.
She was born in New York City, NY on December 21, 1930 to Edward A. and Merle E. (Nibblet) Blakelock. Anne was educated in public schools in Belmont, MA and was a graduate of Belmont High School in the Class of 1949. She attended Framingham Teacher’s College, graduating in 1953 with a BA in Education.
Anne married Melvin W. Kretzenger on July 3, 1954 in Belmont, MA. They resided in Cooperstown, NY, later North Haven, CT, relocating to Montague, MA in 1964 where they owned and operated Hunting Hills Nursery. Their specialties included trees, shrubs, bedding plants, seasonal wreaths and handcrafted natural decorations, maple syrup, vegetables, baked goods and more. Sadly, Melvin predeceased Anne following 36 years of marriage in September of 1990.
Anne previously taught Home Economics at the New Salem Academy, New Salem, MA. Anne also worked as a Dietician for several local care facilities, including the former Franklin County Public Hospital, and Poet Seat Nursing Home.
She was a past president of the North Haven Garden Club, a former Girl Scout leader while in Connecticut, was active in 4H while residing in Montague, where she also served as a Library Trustee and as a representative for the Town of Montague on the Greenfield/Montague Transportation Authority, (now known as the FRTA). She enjoyed cooking and baking, watching all types of sports in particular the Boston Red Sox and the New England Patriots
Anne is lovingly remembered by her children: Peter (Joanne) of Turners Falls, MA; Suzanne J. Kretzenger (Jere) of Montague, MA and Beth A. Ferrara (Ralph) of Westfield, MA, as well as her brother Robert E. Blakelock (Helen) of Nobleboro, ME. Additionally she leaves her adoring grandchildren Daniel, Sarah and Kevin Kretzenger and Jessica Ferrara and great grandchildren Sophia, Bella and Charles Kretzenger, as well as several nieces, nephews and grandnieces and grandnephews to remember her with affection.
In keeping with Anne’s request for simplicity, she will be cremated and no formal services or visiting hours will be observed. A celebration of her life will take place at a date, place and time to be announced in the spring of 2018. In Anne’s memory, charitable donations may be directed to the MCFD Firefighter’s Association in c/o Asst. Chief Gary Dion, P.O. Box 237, Montague Center, MA 01351.
