Alyce M. (Bouchard) Nadeau, 92, of 21 Walnut Street, in the Riverside Section of the Town of Gill, passed peacefully at home in the presence of her loving family on Saturday, November 28, 2015 following a period of declining health.
A native of Pittsfield, MA, she was born on October 21, 1923 to Alice (Hobson) and Zepherin Bouchard.  She moved with her family to Turners Falls, MA when she was a young child and attended Montague Public Schools and Turners Falls High School.
Alyce was employed for 16 years by the University of Massachusetts at Amherst in the Housekeeping Department, retiring in 1985.  A devout Catholic, she was a communicant of Our Lady of Peace Church in Turners Falls, MA. A staunch Democrat, she enjoyed following political events and engaging in thoughtful discourse about the political scene.   
Alyce enjoyed vacationing in Rockport and Gloucester, MA, visiting art and historical museums, in particular Old Sturbridge Village.  She was an avid reader and a devoted Boston Red Sox fan.  She will be remembered for her quick wit and humor and for her devotion to her family and friends.
She married Laurence P. Nadeau on June 25, 1942 in the former St. Mary’s of the Assumption Church in Turners Falls, MA.  They celebrated 37 years of marriage together prior to his passing in July of 1979.  Alyce is lovingly remembered by her daughters:  Alyce L. Lacoy and her partner, Robert Mazanec of Shelburne, MA and Janet A. Nadeau of Gill, MA.  She is also remembered with affection by her sisters:  Annetta Aldrich of Greenfield, MA and Agnes Lenois of Bernardston, MA, as well as (4) grandchildren:  Paul Norwood, Lorena Norwood, Angelique Lacoy and Emily Nadeau, (8) great grandchildren, (4) great-great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews and great-great grandnieces and great-great grand nephews. In addition, she leaves her beloved canine companion and grand-dog, Nacho. Alyce’s family would like to acknowledge the Cooley Dickinson VNA & Hospice for the care they provided to their mother during her illness, with special consideration to Anna Hanson for her compassionate and thoughtful attention.
Guests are invited to join Alyce’s family on Thursday, December 3, 2015 with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA.  Rev. Fr. Stanley Aksamit, Pastor will be the celebrant.  Rites of committal and burial will follow in St. Mary’s Cemetery, Turners Falls, MA. A reception will be announced at the conclusion of the services.  Visiting hours will be observed this evening, Wednesday, December 2, 2015 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM from the McCarthy Funeral Homes, 14 Prospect Street, Turners Falls, MA.  Expressions of affection in the form of charitable contributions in Alyce’s memory are suggested in lieu of flowers to the Friends of the Franklin County Regional Dog Shelter, 10 Sandy Lane, Turners Falls, MA 01376 or to Our Lady of Peace Church, 90 Seventh Street, Turners Falls, MA, 01376
